Long Term Plan 2022/2023
Golden Rules
At Perton First School children learn to follow our Golden Rules so everyone is able to work and play in a caring, safe and happy environment. As soon as your child starts reception they will begin to learn about the Golden Rules using fun characters and stories and will be given lots of praise when they: Try Hard, Are Kind and Helpful, Are Gentle, Are Honest, Listen Well or Look After Things.
Gross Motor Skills - Why Are Gross Motor Skills Important?
Working on gross motor skills helps a child gain strength and confidence in his/her body. It also helps them get exercise and physical activity, which is important for a healthy lifestyle. Developing these skills helps a child’s ability to do more complex skills in future activities from sport to writing. Below are some links with fun activities you can do with your child at home.

Numberblocks
We will develop our number knowledge through 'Number of the Week'. This weekly focus helps us to understand that each number has a meaning and recognise the numeral. We use the Numberblocks characters and a wide variety of resources to help us to have a deep, embedded understanding of number. Our aim is to understand mathematical language such as 'more', 'less', 'amount' and then apply it in their daily play. It will also enable our children to articulate their thinking and develop their reasoning skills.
Useful Information about our Curriculum
Don’t forget...
Child initiated learning takes place Outdoors throughout the year, regardless of weather, so please ensure that your child is suitably dressed for the ever changing British weather. As the weather becomes warmer please can we ask that you apply suncream to your child before school and provide a labelled sunhat for protection. If you would like your child to reapply their cream during the day please ensure that the bottle is clearly labelled and encourage your child to apply this independently.
Water is provided at snack time and is freely available throughout the day. Children can bring a labelled water bottle but we remind you that we are only allowed plain water because we are a ‘Healthy School’.
We politely remind you that children are not to bring personal toys into school, unless asked by a teacher.
