Intent:

At Perton First School, we recognise that pupils are entitled to a high-quality art and design education that should engage, inspire, challenge and equip them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art. Pupils should also know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.

Implementation:

At Perton First School, we have a bespoke Art curriculum that has been designed to ensure that our children leave our school with a wealth of experiences and opportunities in order for them to succeed in their future life.

Children will be taught artistic skills and techniques underpinned by knowledge and they will also develop an appreciation of human creativity and achievement by studying five different works of art each year.

Impact:

We measure the impact of the art curriculum with teacher and staff observations as well as by listening to pupil voice.
