Reading Books

Reading at home is an important way to encourage fluency and a love of reading! We work so hard at our reading in school, it is really valued when children read little and often at home too- it makes all the difference.

Children read at least once a week in school with an adult. Reading books are changed on your child's Guided Reading day- please see inside their reading diaries to find this. Please ensure books are returned in book bags on this day so they can be shared with other children!

Your child will also be allocated two Bug Club online reading books for them to enjoy. This is a fun way to engage with reading and there are questions to answer and points to score as a result! Please ask me if you have misplaced your log-in details.

School Library Books

Your child has the chance to choose a book from our school library every other Tuesday afternoon. Children have free choice of book and can enjoy it at home for two weeks before swapping it. Reading books must be returned before children can take another. Thank you for your support in this!

Nightingale Class have PE on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please ensure that your child has a PE kit in school on these days. Children should not wear earrings on PE days and long hair needs to be tied up. Thank you!

Don't forget about the great online learning platforms your child has access to from home. Education City and Espresso use fun and interactive ways, such as games and videos, to engage children with learning. They are especially good for maths, phonics and spellings. Let me know if you're not sure of log-in details!
