Estee Griffin – Co-opted Governor – Chair

Fiona Gurmin – Parent Governor – Vice Chair

Nick Brown – Parent Governor

I was delighted to join the governing board at Perton First School in October 2021. As a parent of four children, I have a strong personal connection to the school community and understand the importance of providing children with the very best start in their education. Seeing my own children thrive within the school has strengthened my commitment to supporting its continued success.
I have worked in education for over 15 years across Staffordshire, Wolverhampton, and Telford & Wrekin. Earlier in my career, I worked in a special school in Wolverhampton, where I developed a deep understanding of the importance of inclusive practice and ensuring that every child, regardless of their needs or background, has the opportunity to succeed. This experience helped shape my passion for creating environments where all learners feel valued, supported, and able to achieve their full potential.
I currently work as a Director of Primary, leading school improvement and supporting schools to provide high-quality education for their pupils. Prior to this, I served as an Assistant Headteacher and have been involved in successful Ofsted inspections and school improvement initiatives. I hope that my professional knowledge, leadership experience, and willingness to both support and challenge will contribute positively to the continued development of Perton First School.
I am incredibly proud of the school’s inclusive ethos and its commitment to helping every child succeed. I look forward to continuing to work alongside fellow governors and school leaders to ensure the school remains a place where children flourish, achieve, and enjoy learning.

Anne Bennett – Co-Headteacher Governor

I have been headteacher at Perton First School for thirteen years. Prior to this, I was Headteacher at Foley Infant school for seven years. It is an absolute privelege and pleasure to lead this wonderfully warm and inclusive school, where children thrive. As well as my role as Headteacher, I also work as an Ofsted Inspector support school improvement. I have a passion for CPD and educational research and use this to enhance the learning expereince for our wonderful children.

In my spare time, I am a doting Nanny to six gorgeous grandchildren and I love losing myself in a good book!

I am the co-headteacher governor at Perton First School and have been an active member of the board for more than five years. Prior to this, I was the vice chair of governors then LGB at Anson Primary School in Stafford. I have been a teacher since I was 21 and I love working with children and young people; they brighten my day! I have worked in a range of schools in different local authorities and with different economic and cultural groups. I have learned a lot from my expereinces in different schools and I always aim to maintain a positive and supportive culture, which supports good wellbeing for all. I have really enjoyed my SENCo role and I love being the EYFS lead. I am one of the school’s GLEE Club leaders and work hard to bring joy to the community. I am very proud of what we do as a school in terms of inclusion, achievement and enrichment.

In my own time, I enjoys singing, dancing, painting and playing the guitar. I’m a very creative person. Every weekend, I train jiu jitsu which is great for building confidence, discipline, humility and perseverance. It also helps to reduce stress and improve health. It’s a lot of fun too. I love long walks, spending time with my family, travel, reading and research.

Kelvin Jones – Staff Governor

I am currently Assistant Headteacher for attainment and data, DSL and c0-Y4 class teacher. I am involved in the RADY Pathway work that we’re completing as a school to improve attainment for disadvantanged children and have been inspired tby the work that Emily has been doing around inclusion to complete an NPQSEN. I previously completed an NPQ for middle leaders. I love science and am currently the science lead. I like to wow the children with experiments! I am glad to be involved with the team of governors to ensure that our strategic vision is carried out as well as it possibly can be. I can offer an insight into the day-to-day attainment of the children and the overall school data.

In my spare time, I enjoy walking my dogs, spending time with my family and going on holiday.
