FINAL MATHS ACTIVITY
Monday 13th July 2020
For our final Maths Activity we would like the children to focus on TIMES TABLES.
In Year 3, pupils should be taught to:
Below you will find selection of resources for the 3, 4 and 8 times tables that the children can work their way through this week, and during the summer holidays.
Although some of our children may have already completed their 3s, 4s or 8s during our weekly tests in schools, these activities will still provide a good opportunity to practise so please try some of them before moving to the Challenge resources.
Please continue to use TT Rock Stars this week too. We have set one big final weekly battle, SWANS V KINGFISHERS. Who will be the winning class? It’s up to you!
Finally, we would like to thank all of our parents and carers for their incredible support with learning at home during the last few months. We cannot wait to see all of the children when they return in September.

Year 3 Maths Activity
Monday 29th June to Friday 10th July
Over the next two weeks, we would like the children to learn about 3D shape.
By the end of Year 3 children should be able to:
Below, we have attached a range of resources that will help the children to recognise 3D shapes and learn about their properties.
Start with the PowerPoint 'Recognise and Describe 3D shapes', this will help children to learn about the various properties of 3D shapes. Once you have gone through the PowerPoint there is a follow up activity to complete (with an answer sheet also available).
After this, there are a range of other activities that you might like to complete. The shape hunt can be done out on a walk, or around your home, and the PowerPoint quiz is a fun activity that everyone might like to join in with.
If you have access to play dough or other modelling materials, children can make their own 3D shapes and discuss their properties. We have included a 3D shape word mat in the resources that you can use as a visual aid for this activity.
Year 3 Maths Activity
Monday 15th June to Friday 26th June
Over the next two weeks, we would like the children to learn about data and statistics. In Year 3, the children are expected to:
Statistics
Therefore, we have attached a range of a resources that will help the children to read and interpret data.
Firstly, we would recommend that the children learn about the different types of graphs, tables and charts that they may have to use or interpret. Secondly, we think the children would benefit from trying to interpret the data that is given to them and see if they can understand what it tells them, you will find a lot of activities like this below.
Once the children understand how data and statistics are presented, we think that they would enjoy collecting their own data. They can choose the subject, how the data is collected and how it is presented. Here are some ideas about subjects you could choose if you are finding it hard to decide:
You could also collect data having done something practically, maybe together as a family, and compare the results e.g.
We want to encourage the children to contact other members of their family, school friends or other friends and ask them to take part in their study as, with the current restrictions, they may not be able to do the activities together and you may be limited to those only in your household otherwise. Therefore, give your friends a call and ask them the questions in your study or set them a challenge and ask them to send you their results so you can add it to your statistics! The children are also welcome to ask us if they want an additional statistic, or they can challenge us to take part in their practical data collections if they want to, and one of the Year 3 Team will try and have a go at the activities (we do love a challenge!)
If the children do not want to contact other members of their family or friends, they can input their own results to make the results of their study wider if needed, or could keep the study limited to those in their household.
If you have any questions, would like to send us a copy of your child's work or would like to let us know how the children are getting on, please message us through the Year 3 Contact email.
Thank you for your support at home,
The Year 3 Team.

Monday 18th May to Friday 29th May

Previous Activities
Monday 4th May 2020 to Friday 15th May 2020
Over the next two weeks, we would like everybody in Year 3 to do the same maths activity. We are challenging everybody in Year 3 to learn about 'Measures' including Capacity (ml/l) and Mass (g/kg).
We would love you and your children to work together to measure Capacity and Mass through practical activities. We want this activity to be as fun and as engaging as possible, which means you can be a little bit creative with how it is taught. You may want to measure ingredients, weigh things around the house or compare the capacity or mass of different objects that you find.
Below, you will find some resources, including some worksheets, that will support your child's learning in this area. However, we think that the children will benefit more from using the measuring equipment practically.
If you have any questions or would like to send us any pictures or copies of your child's work, please feel free to email us!
Many Thanks,
The Year 3 Team.
As well as using Bug Club and Times Tables Rock Stars to engage with Maths, I have also attached a number of different links to games or documents that we use in school to help your child develop their maths skills. Please choose just one to have a go at, there is no expectation to complete them all.
I hope you find them useful,
Mr Dobson.
These are the times tables sheets that we use in school each Friday. Your child will know which times table they are currently working on and their best score so far. If you would like to know which times table your child is currently working on and their best score so far, please email me and I will be happy to give you all of the information that you need.
Many Thanks,
Mr Dobson.
