Our Art Focus for
Summer 1
We have been learning about the famous artist,
'Roy Lichenstein' and have been working hard to create our own pop art flower prints using our own tile designs. We are so proud of our beautiful artwork and our corridor display looks amazing!
Art Focus for Spring 2.
In our focused Art learning, we will be discussing a painting by Henry Matisse and comparing his work to the work of other artists that we know. Matisse is famous for creating collages and so we will be learning to use collage to create our own pictures inspired by The Great Fire of London.
Following on from our inspiration from Matisse, we have created our own colourful collages to show The Great Fire of London.
Initially we used pastels to create our background and picked out hot colours to represent the fiery skyline and we learned how we could mix and blend colours together to make new shades.
We then shredded our tissue paper to add texture to our pastel background creating even more flames. Then finally we created a London skyline by cutting shapes from black paper. The black silhouette created the foreground for our picture.
We had great fun being creative and we are very proud of our final pieces of Artwork! Here is our fantastic work which has created a stunning class display.
During our Math's Week, we used 2D shapes to make Tangrams, linking it to Art. We are very proud of our shape creations.
We have displayed them in our cloakroom for everyone to see.
We are learning about the famous artist.
Lowry.
We have worked very hard on our own sketches of Lowry's Matchstick Men pictures. Take a look at our brilliant work!
Remembrance
We will remember them...
In class we have been learning about Remembrance Day and thinking of the reasons why we should be thankful to our soldiers, past and present.
We have turned our writing into soldiers for display. We think they look a fantastic army. Take a look below!

Bear Necessities
As part of our Bears topic, we have been learning about Paddington Bear.
We have been busy creating our very own Paddington Bear display. We painted and collaged our very own bears. Paddington has come to visit Year 1 on his travels. Take a look, I'm sure you'll agree they all look fabulous!
