Barnaby Bear went to Mid-Wales

This year I went to quite a few places in Mid Wales. One of my favourite days out was the day I went to see the waterfall Pistyll Rhaeadr, which is near Llanrheadr-ym-Mochnant.

Pistyll Rhaeadr is the highest waterfall in Wales with a 240 foot drop. Locted in the Berwyn mountains, the area is very popular with tourists as it provides many opportunities for outdoor pursuits such as fishing, walking and cycling, while the waterfall's visitor centre includes a restaurant, caravan and camping site and bed and breakfast.

There has been a tradition of lead mining in the area that dates back to Roman times, although there has been no activity since just before the turn of the 20th century.

I crossed the river on this very narrow bridge and had a walk round the woods.
